  • We strive to make the Historic Home Tour as welcoming and accessible as possible. While some properties are accessible, all of the featured homes were constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries, long before modern ADA standards were established. We have made every effort to maximize accessibility where possible; however, please note that stairs are required to enter or navigate several of the properties, and some may feature uneven historic terrain. If you have specific mobility concerns, please contact us at contact@edchs.org so we can help you plan your visit.

  • Children under 18 are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Please note that standard pricing applies to children. Additionally, a legal guardian must sign a liability waiver for each minor before entry is granted.

  • While we love our furry friends, pets are not permitted on the tour. Because we are visiting private historic homes, we must respect the homeowners' personal preferences and protect their beautifully preserved spaces. Additionally, keeping pets at home ensures a comfortable environment for guests, volunteers, and homeowners who may have severe allergies. Thank you for your understanding!

  • Photography Policy: To respect the privacy of our homeowners, photography is strictly limited to the exteriors of the properties. Guests observed taking interior photos will be asked to leave the tour, and their access will be revoked without a refund.

  • All ticket sales are final and nonrefundable. This home tour serves as a vital fundraiser for the El Dorado County Historical Society. Your ticket purchase directly supports our mission to preserve and share local history. Thank you for your generous support.

  • While individual pacing varies, we generally recommend budgeting 2 to 3 hours to complete the tour. Here is a suggested breakdown to help you plan your day:

Parking & Transit (10–20 mins): Park in city lots or along Main Street, then walk across the Hwy 50 skybridge to the home tour registration hub at the Church of Our Saviour.

Check-In (5–10 mins): Sign your mandatory liability waiver and pick up the special wristband required for entry into the featured properties.

The Tour (1.5–2 hours): Plan for approximately 10 minutes inside each home, plus additional time for walking and utilizing the shuttle between locations. You are welcome to visit the properties in any order. However, because some homeowners have requested a maximum capacity inside their residences at one time, queues may form if too many guests begin at the same location. To help minimize wait times, our registration crew will gladly provide recommendations on the best homes to start your tour.
