2026 Historic Home Tour: Frequently Asked Questions

  • The 2026 Historic Home Tour will showcase ten unique heritage properties in Placerville’s Coloma Street - Spring Street Historic District.

  • Tour Hours: The tour runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please note that final entry to all properties is at 3:30 pm to allow guests enough time to enjoy the home before closing.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page or email. We aim to respond quickly—usually within one business day.

  • Children under 18 are welcome when accompanied by an adult. Please note that a legal guardian must sign a liability waiver for each minor before entry is granted.

  • Photography Policy: To respect the privacy of our homeowners, photography is strictly limited to the exteriors of the properties. Guests observed taking interior photos will be asked to leave the tour, and their access will be revoked without a refund.

  • Parking & Arrival

    • General Parking: Available along Main Street, in public lots, or on the first two floors of the Center Street Garage (Note: the 3rd floor of the garage is for permit holders only).

    • Restricted Parking: To respect neighborhood residents, parking is strictly prohibited along Spring and Coloma Streets.

    • ADA Parking: Exceptionally limited accessible parking is available in the rear lot of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour (2979 Coloma St.). Please reserve these spaces strictly for those with mobility concerns.

    Check-In & Walking

    • The Route: After parking downtown, please use the Coloma Street pedestrian over-crossing (accessible through the Center Street Garage) to reach the Official Reception Center at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour (2979 Coloma St.).

    • The Walk: Most of the tour is very walkable, with 90% of the featured properties located within a two-block radius of the church.

    • The Outlier: One featured property is located 0.5 miles from the reception center. As this stretch of Coloma Street lacks pedestrian sidewalks, we strongly recommend a short drive to this specific location for your safety.

  • We strive to make the Historic Home Tour as welcoming and accessible as possible. While some properties are accessible, all of the featured homes were constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries, long before modern ADA standards were established. We have made every effort to maximize accessibility where possible; however, please note that stairs are required to enter or navigate several of the properties, and some may feature uneven historic terrain. If you have specific mobility concerns, please contact us at contact@edchs.org so we can help you plan your visit.

  • General admission is $30 per person, and EDCHS member admission is $25. Please note that standard pricing applies to children. All ticket sales act as donations; net proceeds directly support the EDCHS in its mission to honor those who came before us by rescuing, preserving, researching, and displaying El Dorado County’s rich history. Your contribution also sustains the operations and maintenance of the historic Fountain & Tallman (F&T) Museum. If you would like to make an additional or alternative donation, please call us at the F&T Museum.

  • Yes, tickets will be available on-site. However, we highly recommend purchasing in advance to enjoy priority check-in. Because lines can become quite long on the day of the event, pre-purchasing is the best way to ensure a smooth start to your tour.
