Coloma-Spring Street Historic District

Special thanks to the El Dorado County Historical Museum, the EDCHS Board of Directors, historic property owners, docents, and volunteers. We are especially grateful to Dee Owens, Rodi Lee, Glenda Edwards, Beth Fellman, and Sean Manwaring for their dedicated research.

On behalf of the El Dorado County Historical Society, welcome to the 2026 Historic Home Tour. We are delighted to have you with us today to explore the Coloma-Spring Street Historic District, a neighborhood that showcases a remarkable timeline of architectural styles, from Gothic Revival and Queen Anne to Spanish Colonial Revival and Arts and Crafts.

Historic preservation is about much more than maintaining beautiful architecture from another era. These homes are tangible links to the people who came before us, and who shaped our communities. While they are built of wood, glass, and masonry, these homes are actually defined by the generations of men and women who walked these very streets.

When we preserve these buildings, we protect the physical threads that connect those early pioneer stories to our contemporary lives. Standing in these spaces reminds us that the people who first called them home were not so different from us, if at all. By remembering and safeguarding their stories, we carry their legacy forward, ensuring that the story of our community remains visible for the generations yet to come.

Please take your time today to appreciate the 19th- and early 20th-century craftsmanship and the rich local history woven into the fabric of this district. History is not just something we look back on; it is a continuous narrative we are all still writing.

We hope you have a wonderful day exploring our shared heritage!

Jill Kearney, President, El Dorado County Historical Society (EDCHS)
